India defeated Oman by 21 runs in the Group A match of the Asia Cup 2025. With this, India has achieved a hat-trick of victories in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 tournament. 

India topped the Group A points table after defeating the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Pakistan and Oman. Batting first in this match, India scored 188 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs and set a target of 189 runs for Oman. In reply, Oman, while chasing the target, could only manage 167 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs.

Captain Surya did not come out to bat in the match against Oman

India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav did not bat against Oman. In this match, India's captain Suryakumar Yadav decided to push himself down to number 11 in the batting order, giving his other 10 teammates a chance to bat. 

After winning the match against Oman by 21 runs, India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav jokingly said, "I will definitely try to bat above number 11 in the next match."

Surprised by his reaction after the victory

India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav praised the Oman cricket team, saying, "I thought Oman played incredible cricket. I knew their coach, Sulu Sir (Sulakshan Kulkarni), would have a gruff coaching style, and that showed in Oman's game. It was amazing. It was really fun watching Oman bat."

Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana defended

In this match against Oman, fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana were given a chance, but they proved expensive. Arshdeep Singh took one wicket while conceding 37 runs in four overs. Harshit Rana, on the other hand, took one wicket while conceding 25 runs in three overs. 

Defending Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, captain Suryakumar Yadav said, "When you're sitting on the bench and suddenly come into the playing eleven and start playing, it's a bit difficult. It was very humid here (Abu Dhabi)."

All-rounder Hardik Pandya was unfortunately run out after scoring just one run in the match against Oman. Suryakumar Yadav commented on Hardik Pandya's run-out, saying, "It's unfortunate how he got out, but you can't rule him out of the game. 

The way he bowled was brilliant. He's fully prepared for the Super Four." India will play its first match in the Super Four stage on Sunday, September 21st, against arch-rivals Pakistan.
