Arshdeep's dominance in world cricket... became the first Indian to do so, also set the record for the 'fastest century'

After being benched for the first two matches of the Asia Cup 2025, Arshdeep Singh got a chance to play in India's final group match against Oman. In this match, Arshdeep took a wicket and made history.

After being benched for the first two matches of the Asia Cup 2025, Arshdeep Singh got a chance to play in India's final group match against Oman. India won the match by 21 runs, with Arshdeep Singh contributing one wicket. 

Arshdeep was unsuccessful in his first three overs, but in his final over of the match, he had Oman wicketkeeper-batsman Vinayak Shukla caught by Rinki Singh on the first ball. Arshdeep made history with this single wicket of the match.

Arshdeep became the first Indian to do so

In fact, this was Arshdeep's 100th wicket in T20 International cricket. With this, he became the first bowler for India to take a century of wickets in this format. 

In January of this year, he had reached 99 wickets in a T20 International match against England. He did not get a chance in the playing XI for the first two matches of the Asia Cup 2025. He got a chance against Oman, in which Arshdeep achieved this historic feat.

Great record for the fastest century

Arshdeep Singh not only became the first Indian player to take 100 T20I wickets, but he also now holds the record for the fastest fast bowler to reach 100 wickets in the format. 

He achieved this feat in just 64 matches. Among Full Member countries, he became the third-fastest bowler to reach 100 T20I wickets, behind Rashid Khan (53 matches) and Wanindu Hasaranga (63 matches). 

Among fast bowlers from Full Member countries, Arshdeep Singh broke the record held by Pakistan's Haris Rauf, who achieved this feat in 71 matches.
