Government procurement of millet will begin in Haryana from October 1, with price difference compensation of Rs 625 per quintal
In the interest of farmers, the Haryana government has completed preparations for government procurement of millet for the 2025-26 Kharif season.

Millet will be purchased in mandis from October 1. The central government has set the minimum support price (MSP) for millet at ₹2,775 per quintal, but government agencies will purchase millet at ₹2,150 per quintal.
To cover the difference, the government will deposit compensation of ₹625 per quintal into farmers' bank accounts under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana.
What is the meaning of price difference compensation?
If a farmer's millet sells at a lower price in the market, the difference between the MSP and the market price will be paid under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana.
For example, if millet sells at ₹2200 per quintal in the market, the farmer will receive ₹2775 ÷ ₹2200 = ₹575, plus ₹625 as Bhavantar Bharpai. This results in a total profit of ₹2825 per quintal.
Application process and convenience

Rain damages crops and worries
This year, excessive rainfall has affected the quality of millet. Approximately 75% of the millet has been damaged. The increasing rainfall threatens to damage the crops spread across the fields.
Farmers have begun dropping their produce off at the market, but government procurement is being delayed due to sample testing failing.
Farmers and commission agents have demanded the government resume procurement soon and increase the price difference compensation again.
