Sale of Coldrif cough syrup banned in Haryana, health department sends samples for testing

Following serious cases of children dying from consuming Coldrif cough syrup in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, Haryana has adopted stricter precautions against the drug. The Haryana Health Department has banned the sale of Coldrif syrup throughout the state with immediate effect.

Sample collection and testing process

Samples have been collected from several districts across the state and sent to labs for testing. In Jind, District Drug Controller Dr. Geeta Goyal held a meeting at the Civil Hospital and collected samples of Coldrif syrup from five medical stores. 

She has instructed all medical store operators to immediately stop selling Coldrif syrup and inform the department about their existing stock.

Actions taken by other districts

In Bhiwani, Kaithal, Karnal, and Rohtak, the health department has also directed medical stores and hospitals to stop selling cold-relieving cough syrup and strictly follow the guidelines. In Karnal, 20 medical stores were inspected and two samples were taken.
