Several important decisions regarding power reforms were taken at the recent 32nd State Advisory Committee meeting, chaired by HERC Chairman Nand Lal Sharma.

Roadmap for 24-hour affordable and quality electricity

According to the state government, adequate coal reserves have been ensured to reduce power generation costs. Fly ash is being utilized as per standards at the Panipat Thermal and Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Plants.

The 4.2 million tons of fly ash lying at the Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Project in Hisar will also be utilized, reducing production costs and helping protect the environment. An amount of ₹310 crore has been spent on fly ash management in 2024-25.

Modernization and improved network in power distribution

To strengthen the power distribution system, power lines will be buried underground in urban areas like Faridabad and Gurugram to prevent technical faults and accidents.

Old transformers and worn wires will be replaced in rural areas. This will reduce power outages and ensure uninterrupted power supply even when the power load increases. The department believes this plan will strengthen 24-hour power supply throughout the state.

Special attention to reducing power losses

The AT&C losses of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) have been reduced to 8.75% and that of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) to 11.13% by June 2025.

The department is continuously working to reduce these losses, which will improve the financial position and reduce the burden of electricity charges on consumers.

Achievements of “Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon” scheme

Under this scheme, 24-hour electricity has been provided to approximately 6,000 villages so far. The government's next goal is to ensure 24-hour, affordable, and quality electricity supply throughout the state. Clear guidelines have been issued to officials to ensure this roadmap is successfully implemented.
