Bajra Bhavantar in Haryana reduced from Rs 625 to Rs 575, government procurement halted, farmers angry
The Haryana government announced the start of government procurement for millet farmers from October 1st. Previously, under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana, farmers were to be paid Rs. 625 per quintal, the difference between the market rate and the MSP.

Recently, the government reduced this amount to Rs. 575 per quintal. Now, government agencies will purchase millet at Rs. 2,200 per quintal, and Rs. 575 will be deposited into farmers' accounts as the difference, provided the farmer has registered on the "Meri Fasal Mera Byora" portal.
Sample failure and crop quality
This year, due to excessive rainfall and inclement weather, approximately 75% of the millet arriving in the markets has turned black, resulting in frequent sample failures.
Government procurement processes are stalled due to low quality and sample failures. Both commission agents and farmers are concerned that the millet could be completely damaged by the crop lying in the open and the impact of the rain.
Demands of commission agents association and farmers organizations
The price difference compensation amount should be again made Rs 625 per quintal.
Haryana electricity reform
Farmers should get MSP and price difference compensation money at the right time.
If government procurement does not start then the movement will be intensified.
Condition of the markets
On Tuesday, commission agents went on strike at the Bhiwani market, preventing farmers from unloading their millet in about 30 trolleys.
The farmers' protest continues at the market gate. More than 100,000 quintals of millet lies outside the market, exposed to the open sky. Fears of spoilage due to rain persist, and government agencies remain inactive regarding procurement.
Tips for farmers and commission agents
If a farmer wants to sell his millet outside, he should do so through a J-Form to benefit from price difference compensation. Whether the purchase is government or private, registration and verification through the portal is mandatory.
