The movement of these vehicles has been banned in Haryana from November 1, the HSPCB has issued an order
The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has taken strict action to curb diesel vehicles, diesel generators, and construction dust in two major NCR districts (Gurugram-Faridabad-Sonipat) to improve air quality. Approximately 1.5 million older diesel vehicles (especially those up to BS-4) will no longer be able to operate in these areas.
The ban will affect old diesel trucks, mini trucks, loading vehicles and small commercial vehicles.
Police/administration will take strict action against those violating the rules.
What is the order on diesel generator?
A ban on diesel generators has been in effect in 14 districts of the NCR since October 1. Hospitals, medical, defense, or emergency services are exempt in Sonipat, Gurugram, Faridabad, and other districts.
Generators above 25 KVA are required to have dual kits, gas boilers, or smog control technology.
Industrial units, flats and builders will have to use anti-smog guns and adopt dust control measures.
Those who do not obey the orders will have their units sealed and will be fined.
Construction – Builder, Dust and Special Instructions
Builders are required to register on the “Dust Portal” at the construction site.
Anti-smog guns and water sprinklers (dust suppression) mandatory.
Strict measures implemented for dust control at construction sites and roadsides.
Why was this decision taken?
With the festive season, weather changes, and the arrival of winter, as usual, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) exceeds 400. This impacts health.
Following Delhi's example, Haryana is now implementing the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) under the directives of the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
