Bank Holidays: Banks will remain closed for 15 days in October; check the list of holidays

Bank Holidays October 2025: A major update has arrived for bank customers. If you have any banking related work, get it done quickly this month. In fact, banks will be full of holidays in October 2025. The festival season begins next month, and as such, banks will be closed for approximately 15 days. If you're planning a trip to the bank, be sure to check the RBI's bank holiday list. 

 

Breaking News (Bank Holiday October 2025 List). The month of November is about to end and with the beginning of the new month, most people think of completing their bank related work. 

If you too are planning to do bank related work in October, then this news is important for you. Quickly complete your bank work in the month of September. 

Actually, many big festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, Chhath Puja and Durga Puja will be celebrated in India in October. Hence, there will be many holidays in banks in this month. RBI has released the list of days for October 2025 when bank branches will remain closed. 

Banks will remain closed on these days in October - 

The month of October (Bank Holidays October 2025) marks the beginning of the festive season. Banks will be closed in Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Nagaland, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Meghalaya on October 1st for Dussehra, Ayudha Puja (Maha Navami/Vijayadashami), and Durga Puja. 

Banks will then be closed across India on October 2nd, 2025, for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. This is a national holiday, so bank branches will remain open in all states and union territories. 

Bank holidays on 3, 4, 6, 7 and 10 

Please note that banks will be closed on October 3rd and 4th in Sikkim due to Durga Puja. On October 6th, banks will be closed in Tripura and West Bengal for Lakshmi Puja. 

On October 7th, banks will be closed in Karnataka, Odisha, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh for Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Kumar Purnima. On October 10th, banks will be closed in Himachal Pradesh due to Karva Chauth. For your information, these bank holidays will be on different days. 

Banks will remain closed on this day - 

  1. Banks will be closed in Assam on October 18 for Kati Bihu. Banks will be closed in most states on October 20 for Diwali (Diwali 2025), Naraka Chaturdashi, and Kali Puja. 
  2. Banks will be closed on October 21 in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, Manipur, Jammu, and Srinagar for Diwali Amavasya, Deepawali, and Govardhan Puja. 
  3. Banks will be closed on October 22 for Diwali, Vikram Samvat New Year, Govardhan Puja, Balipadyami, and Lakshmi Puja. Banks will be closed on October 23 for Bhaidooj, Chitragupta Jayanti, Lakshmi Puja, and Ningol Chakkouba.
  4. Banks will be closed on October 27th in West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand for Chhath Puja, and on October 28th in Bihar and Jharkhand for Chhath Puja. Banks will be closed on October 31st in Gujarat for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti. 
  5. Additionally, all banks nationwide are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Please note that online services will remain available during bank holidays.
