Breaking News - (Bank Holidays 2025). The festive month of October 2025 has started from today and there will be many bank holidays across the country in this month. 

Let us tell you that the maximum number of festivals fall in October. This is important news for crores of bank customers of the country. 

Actually, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the bank holidays calendar for the month of October. 

If you are planning to go to the branch and get your bank related work done, then check the list of holidays before leaving home. Because banks will remain closed for 21 days in this month.

These festivals will be held in October -

Banks will be closed in various states from Gandhi Jayanti on October 2nd to Dussehra, Karva Chauth, and Diwali. 

If you have any bank-related work, consult the RBI Holiday List before doing so. Additionally, some payments can be made online on bank holidays.

RBI releases bank holiday calendar

RBI has released the bank holiday calendar (RBI Bank Holiday List) for the month of October. According to the RBI holiday calendar, banks will remain closed for a total of 21 days in October. 

Banks across the country are closed every Sunday and on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. This means that all banks will remain closed on October 5, 12, 19 and 26 (Sundays) and October 11 and 25 (Saturdays) even if there is no festival. Apart from this, the month is full of festivals due to which banks will remain closed for many days. Let us know on which days there will be festivals in October.

How many days will banks remain closed from October 1 to October 31?

  1. Banks will remain closed in Kerala, Odisha, Tripura, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Jharkhand and Meghalaya on October 1 on the occasion of Navratri and Durga Puja.
  2. There will be a bank holiday across the country on October 2 due to Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra.
  3. Banks will remain closed on October 3 in Sikkim due to Durga Puja (Dasai).
  4. Banks will remain closed in Sikkim on October 4 on account of Durga Puja (Dasai).
  5. Banks will remain closed on October 6 in Tripura and West Bengal on account of Lakshmi Puja.
  6. There will be a bank holiday on October 7 in Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Karnataka and Chandigarh due to Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Kumar Purnima.
  7. Banks will remain closed in Himachal Pradesh on Karwa Chauth on October 10 (Bank Holiday 2025).
  8. Banks will remain closed on October 18 on account of Kati Bihu festival in Assam.
  9. Banks will remain closed on October 20 in Tripura, Gujarat, Mizoram, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh (UT), Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Assam, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Nagaland, West Bengal, Delhi (NCT), Goa, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh on account of Diwali, Narak Chaturdashi and Kali Puja.
  10. Banks will remain closed on October 21 in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, Manipur, Jammu and Srinagar on account of Diwali Amavasya (Lakshmi Pujan), Deepawali and Govardhan Puja.
  11. Banks will remain closed on October 22 in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on account of Diwali, Vikram Samvat New Year, Govardhan Puja, Balipadyami and Lakshmi Puja (Diwali).
  12. Banks will remain closed on October 23 in Gujarat, Sikkim, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh on account of Bhai Dooj, Chitragupta Jayanti, Laxmi Puja Bhatri Dwitiya and Ningol Chakkouba.
  13. Banks will remain closed on October 27 on account of Chhath Puja (evening Arghya) in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand.
  14. Banks will remain closed on October 28 on account of Chhath Puja (morning Arghya) in Bihar and Jharkhand.
  15. Banks will remain closed in Gujarat on October 31 on account of Sardar Patel Jayanti (Bank Holiday List 2025).

While bank branches may be closed during these holidays, online services such as internet banking, mobile apps, UPI, and ATM transactions will remain operational. 

You'll be able to easily perform tasks like online fund transfers, bill payments, and account balance checks. However, check clearing, passbook updates, and cash withdrawals may be affected.
