New underground corridor will be built
Under Delhi Metro Phase IV, 40.109 kilometers of new underground corridors are being constructed. This phase will include approximately 86 kilometers of new lines across five different corridors.
This represents a major engineering challenge, as the underground corridors will pass through various ground levels. This underground corridor will primarily cover the congested residential and commercial areas of Sadar Bazaar, Nabi Karim, Mehrauli Badarpur Road, Ajmal Khan Park, New Delhi, and more.
Construction of the underground section
It should be noted that this phase involves the construction of five different metro corridors, with approximately 86 kilometers of new lines planned. The underground corridor (Underground Gateway) accounts for approximately half of the total lines.
According to Metro officials, a total of 27 underground stations are being built in the lines to be laid under Phase IV. DMRC has already completed the construction of an approximately two-kilometer underground section from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park, which is an extension of the Magenta Line.
