In terms of cost, the Gwalior Expressway will be constructed at a cost of ₹4,200 crore and the Aligarh Expressway at a cost of ₹3,400 crore, reducing travel time. These expressways will also feature food plazas and petrol pumps.

Construction of the Gwalior and Aligarh Expressways will begin in two months. This work will last 22 to 24 months. Both expressways will begin in Agra.

In addition to charging stations, both expressways will feature food plazas and one or two petrol and CNG pumps, for which site identification has already begun. The construction of both expressways is expected to cost approximately ₹7,600 crore.

It should be noted that both of these expressways being built in Uttar Pradesh will be six-lane (UP 6-lane expressway) and will be constructed by the NHAI Gwalior and Agra divisions.

An NHAI official stated that the number of people using electric vehicles is rapidly increasing. Consequently, new models are entering the market every week, leading to an increase in vehicle numbers.

The Gwalior Expressway will also allow two vehicles to charge at a time, taking 15 to 20 minutes. Two stations will be constructed on both sides of the Aligarh Expressway. Separate male and female restrooms will be built. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food will also be available at the food plaza.

Gwalior Expressway will reduce the journey by half

Meanwhile, the cost of constructing the expressway from Gwalior to Rohta, Agra, has been estimated at ₹4,200 crore. Permission has also been granted to build a hanging bridge over the Chambal River. The NHAI Gwalior section will begin work in October and will continue for 24 months.

Once this expressway is completed, the distance from Agra to Gwalior will be reduced to 88 km. Currently, the journey takes two to two and a half hours, but with the construction of this expressway, the journey will be completed in one and a half hours.

The expressway will connect to the third phase of the Inner Ring Road. This will make it easier to access the Yamuna Expressway, Lucknow Expressway, or National Highway 19.
