Hindustan Unilever (HUL) has announced a reduction in the prices of many products including Dove Shampoo, Horlicks, Kisan Jam and Lifebuoy Soap. 

This decision has been taken under the government's order to companies to publish advertisements in newspapers giving details of revised prices.

Jam has become so cheap

In an advertisement given in newspapers, HUL said that the price of 340 ml bottle of Dove shampoo will now come down from Rs 490 to Rs 435. The price of 200 gram jar of Horlicks has come down from Rs 130 to Rs 110. 

While 200 gram Kisan Jam will be available from Rs 90 to Rs 80. Apart from this, the price of a pack of four Lifebuoy soaps of 75 grams will also come down from Rs 68 to Rs 60.

The company has also said that the quantity of those products whose prices will not be reduced will be increased. After the implementation of the new GST system from September 22, 2025, many products of Hindustan Unilever including Lifebuoy soap, Lux soap, Clinic Plus shampoo, Dove shampoo, Horlicks, Kisan Jam, Bru Coffee, Closeup toothpaste, Sunshilp shampoo, Noor soup, Boost drink and many other products will become cheaper.

Impact of the GST rate cut decision

On September 3, the GST Council chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in its 56th meeting announced a reduction in tax rates on many items including daily use products. 

The new rates will come into effect from September 22. In the GST Council meeting, the tax structure has been simplified into three slabs 5%, 18% and 40%. 

Following this, the government has also allowed manufacturers, packers and importers to declare revised MRP on the remaining stock to reflect the changes in GST rates.
