Good news for Delhi-Gurugram Metro commuters: now the connection will be extended from AIIMS to Palam Vihar via Mahipalpur
Work has begun on a major project to make travel between Delhi and Gurugram easier. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will extend the metro line from AIIMS to Palam Vihar in Gurugram via Mahipalpur. This will significantly improve connectivity between the two cities.
The DPR process for this extension is underway, which will determine which portions of the railway line will be underground and which will be elevated. It is anticipated that the line from AIIMS to Mahipalpur will be underground to minimize disruption to Delhi's congested areas. The remaining portion will be built as an elevated corridor.
After completion of this project, the one-and-a-half-hour journey from AIIMS to Palam Vihar in Gurugram will now take only 20 minutes.
This will not only save time but also improve the convenience of children, staff, and passengers. It will also open up a new avenue for fast, safe, and comfortable travel between cities.
This new metro station at Palam Vihar in Gurugram will also provide interchange with another metro line connecting to the Dwarka area of Delhi. This will further strengthen connectivity to Gurugram from various locations in Delhi.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recently requested this extension from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who immediately accepted the request and directed Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal to take immediate action. Implementation of the plan has now begun and will be completed within four years.
This metro extension project will not only ease travel between Delhi and Gurugram, but will also contribute to the development of the NCR region. Following this extension, Gurugram will become more accessible from other cities and busy areas of Delhi, reducing traffic congestion.
